Stage Manager

Emursive Productions, the producing company behind the McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More, Gallow Green, Manderley Bar, and The Club Car is seeking a Stage Manager to work on a new production. The Stage Manager will assist the Production Stage Manager to run rehearsals and the performance. The Stage Manager will help lead a team of assistant stage managers and be responsible for the overall set up, run, and break down of show as well as the safety of performers and fellow stage managers. The Stage Manager will be prepared to step in to sub into  the role of PSM should it be needed. A successful Stage Manager will be a team player, detail-oriented, able to think quickly, remain calm in stressful situations, and possess a strong work ethic. The stage manager must work with various departments within the building to ensure a proper and safe upkeep of the show while remaining in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

We are seeking someone who is a true self-starter, a multi-tasker, and someone able to prioritize responsibilities. Candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, possess and exhibit empathy, exude a good sense of humor, and a track record of on-their-feet problem solving. Candidates must be proactive and possess clear communication skills and the ability to be a team player.

Responsibilities:

Rehearsals:

  • Help run and supervise multiple rehearsal rooms; Including, but not limited to daily props set up, performer needs during rehearsal, running lights and sounds, props clean up,
  • Collaborate with the creative team about needs for the day
  • Supervise assistant stage managers
  • Input notes and summaries into the rehearsal report 
  • Create and maintain tracking paperwork
  • Liaise with various departments to keep everyone up to date on progress 
  • Help develop stage management show run tracks
  • Help create protocols and systems for the run of show

 

Show Run:

  • Develop, uphold and action safety protocols 
  • Step in as Production Stage Manager as needed; Taking calls during the show, collecting cast notes, distributing daily call and reports
  • Help supervise and lead team of stage managers
  • Run performance track as assigned
  • Preset check specific spaces and structures 
  • Safety check various areas and set pieces
  • Check in performers before performance
  • Maintain the daily cast callboard, casting board, and daily notes board for performers
  • Guide and assist audience members patiently and efficiently 
  • Create & maintain show related paperwork
  • Keep a list of notes and give to the PSM for the nightly report
  • Work with the PSM and rehearsal directors to observe and note the show to maintain the content and performances
  • Be able to respond to performer and staff injuries and first aid needs

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • 3+ years of theatrical experience
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create and maintain paperwork
  • Must be able to move quickly and inconspicuously through the space for 3+ hours 
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs unassisted 
  • Upon hiring you will be required to complete certification in fireguard training, first aid training, and CPR certification.

 

Environmental Factors:

  • Spaces which contain large amounts of dust & uneven flooring
  • Numerous trips up and down six floors, unaided by the elevator
  • Strobing lights
  • Continuous, large quantities of haze 
  • Minimal to no lighting
  • Spaces which contain large amounts of dust & uneven flooring
  • Required half-masks worn by all employees during performance

 

Contract Length:

  • Contracts begin November 13th and last for 14 months

 

Rate:

  • $1200 – $1600/week
