Stage Manager – Sleep No More

The McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More, Gallow Green, Manderley Bar, and The Club Car is seeking a Stage Manager for Sleep No More. The Stage Manager is responsible for the overall set up, run, and break down of the show as well as the safety of performers, fellow stage managers, run crew, and audience members. A successful Stage Manager will be a team player, detail oriented, be able to think quickly, remain calm in stressful situations, and possess a strong work ethic. The Stage Manager must work with various departments within the building to ensure a proper and safe upkeep of Sleep No More.

We are seeking someone who is a true self-starter, a multi-tasker, and someone able to prioritize responsibilities. Candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, possess and exhibit empathy, exude a good sense of humor, and a track record of on-their-feet problem solving. Candidates must be proactive and possess clear communication skills and the ability to be a team player.

– Check specific spaces and structures
– Perform preset checks
– Check in performers 2 hours before performance
– Maintain the daily cast callboard and daily notes board for performers
– Refill first aid zones around the building
– Check heat or air conditioning throughout the performance space
– Reset the casting board
– Safety check various areas and set pieces
– Follow performance track as assigned
– Steward audience members patiently and efficiently
– Maintain show related paperwork
– Keep a list of notes and give to the Production Stage Manager for the nightly report
– Work with the PSM and rehearsal directors to observe and note the show to maintain the content and performances
– Be able to respond to performer and staff injuries and first aid needs
– Assist in rehearsals including, but not limited to daily props set up, performer needs during rehearsal, running lights and sound, and props clean up
– Upon agreement between PSM and DSM the SM may be asked to perform stage management tasks in other areas such as parties, festivals, events, presentations, etc within the building

– Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
– Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
– 3+ years of theatrical experience
– Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
– Ability to create and maintain paperwork
– Must be able to move quickly and inconspicuously through the space for 3+ hours
– Must be able to lift 30 lbs unassisted
– Upon hiring you will be required to complete certification in fireguard training, first aid training, and CPR certification.

Environmental Factors:
*Can complete responsibilities and duties under the following conditions, when working in show conditions*
– Strobing lights
– Continuous, large quantities of haze
– Minimal to no lighting
– Loud music and effects
– Spaces which contain large amounts of dust & uneven flooring
– Required half-masks worn by all employees during performance
– Numerous trips up and down six floors, unaided by the elevator

$1200/wk – Expected 40 hrs/wk
