Day Work Electrician and Lighting Show Operator

Emursive Productions, the producing company behind the McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More, Gallow Green, Manderley Bar, and The Club Car is seeking a Day Work Electrician as well as a Lighting Show Operator to work on a new production. 

 

The Day Work Electrician, reporting to the Lighting Supervisor, will support and execute the artistic vision of the Lighting Design of the new project as it relates to all lighting elements. The Day Work Electrician will work with the Lighting Supervisor in preserving the good condition of all lighting elements and ensuring that they are safe and well functioning. The Day Work Electrician plays an essential role in ensuring that lighting equipment is in working order and of consistent quality, as well as developing new systems for the overall improvement of the lighting systems while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. 

 

The Lighting Show Operator is responsible for preserving and maintaining all elements of the lighting design of the new project to the quality of the design intention. You will be responsible for preserving the good condition of all lighting elements and ensuring that they are safe and well functioning. The successful candidate will play an essential role in providing an effective run of shows while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities – Day Work Electrician:

  • Tending to daily lighting notes for all areas within the venue.
  • Completing daily checks and maintenance of the lighting systems
  • Maintaining, organizing, and taking inventory of the lighting gear storage areas
  • Inventory lamp and gel stocks weekly 
  • Execution of all lighting needs throughout the building
  • Upkeep and maintenance of all show hazers 
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of all lighting equipment
  • Clear and concise communication through both written and verbal applications 
  • Creating and updating departmental paperwork
  • Rig check of all equipment hung in the air on a regular basis
  • Regular Cleaning of Gear and Cables
  • Position requires some weekend and evening shifts, including show operation of any in building production as needed and arranged with the lighting supervisor
  • Ensure a safe working environment at all times, and will report any unsafe conditions or behavior to Production Management.
  • Be independent and have an excellent attitude

Responsibilities – Lighting Operator:

  • Operate the Lighting Show Run track for each performance.
  • Attend nightly shifts with punctuality on a weekly schedule that is predetermined by the Lighting Supervisor
  • Daily dimmer, channel, and moving light checks
  • Daily startup, checks, maintenance, and shutdown of lighting systems, including smart candles
  • Maintaining and organizing all working spaces
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Execute all lighting needs for the entirety of the shift
  • Perform pre-show / post show duties as outlined in the associated document
  • Work with stage management and the lighting supervisor to quickly and efficiently solve problems 
  • Clear and concise communication through both written and verbal applications 
  • Completion of technical reports following each show shift as assigned by the lighting supervisor 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lighting Supervisor
  • Ensure a safe working environment at all times, and will report any unsafe conditions or behavior to Production Management.
  • Be independent and have an excellent attitude.

 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional experience
  • Associate of Arts or BFA in Technical Theatre/related field or equivalent experience. 
  • Ability to read stage lighting plots, wiring diagrams and other technical drawings.
  • Ability to lift at least 25lbs
  • Demonstrate strong collaborative, communication, and technical skills
  • Demonstrate a willingness to maintain high standards for a quality, safe, and support work environment
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of self-efficiency and organization
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and efficiency when working under pressure, time constraints, and dim lighting.

  • Spaces which contain large amounts of dust & uneven flooring
  • Numerous trips up and down six floors
  • Strobing lights
  • Continuous, large quantities of haze 
  • Minimal to no lighting
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs unaided.

Rate:

$30/hr, Expected 40 hrs/wk
